कुछ jobs ऐसी होती हैं जहाँ एक इंसान का एक फैसला — एक signature, एक order, एक policy — करोड़ों लोगों की ज़िंदगी बदल सकता है। जहाँ responsibility इतनी बड़ी होती है कि रात को नींद नहीं आती।
भारत जैसे 140 करोड़ लोगों का देश में ऐसी jobs की एक अलग ही category है।
आज हम उन्हीं की बात करेंगे — वो 10 professions जो भारत में सबसे powerful मानी जाती हैं। Salary तो है, लेकिन असली power वो है जो numbers में नहीं मापी जाती।
1. IAS Officer — भारत की सबसे Prestigious Service
किसी ज़िले का Collector जब किसी बाढ़-प्रभावित क्षेत्र में relief operation lead करता है, तो वो अकेला इंसान हज़ारों लोगों की immediate survival decide कर रहा होता है।
यही है IAS की असली power।
Indian Administrative Service UPSC Civil Services Examination के ज़रिए मिलती है — जो भारत की सबसे कठिन परीक्षाओं में से एक है। हर साल 10 लाख से ज़्यादा लोग appear होते हैं, 180 के करीब IAS select होते हैं।
एक IAS officer की journey Sub-Divisional Magistrate से शुरू होकर District Collector, Divisional Commissioner, और फिर Central Government Secretaries तक जाती है। सबसे top पर Cabinet Secretary होते हैं — जो bureaucracy का highest post है।
Power सिर्फ administrative नहीं होती। IAS officers policy बनाते हैं, implement करते हैं, और ground level पर करोड़ों लोगों को directly affect करते हैं।
Salary: ₹56,100 से ₹2,50,000 basic pay। Allowances, perks, और benefits मिलाकर package बहुत बड़ा होता है। लेकिन इस job को choose करने वाले ज़्यादातर लोग salary के लिए नहीं, impact के लिए आते हैं।

2. Supreme Court Judge — न्याय का आखिरी दरवाज़ा
Supreme Court of India का एक judgment — और पूरे देश का law बदल सकता है।
Right to Privacy। Triple Talaq। Section 377। Article 370। इन सब पर Supreme Court के judgments ने भारत को fundamentally बदला।
Chief Justice of India और 33 judges — ये लोग उन cases पर फैसला देते हैं जो Constitution, fundamental rights, और national importance से जुड़े होते हैं।
Supreme Court Judge बनने का रास्ता direct नहीं है। आमतौर पर High Court Judge पहले बनना होता है, और उसके लिए सालों की legal practice। पूरी career में सिर्फ कुछ dozen लोग Supreme Court तक पहुंच पाते हैं।
यह pure meritocracy नहीं है — seniority और collegium system का role है। लेकिन जो पहुंचते हैं, उनके पास constitutional power होती है जो किसी elected politician के पास भी नहीं होती।
Salary: Chief Justice को ₹2,80,000 per month, अन्य judges को ₹2,50,000। Retirement के बाद भी pension और facilities।
3. RBI Governor — जिसके एक फैसले से Market हिल जाती है
जब RBI Governor press conference में बोलते हैं — Sensex उसी second react करता है।
Reserve Bank of India का Governor भारत की monetary policy को control करता है। Interest rates बढ़ाने या घटाने का फैसला, currency को manage करना, banking system को regulate करना — यह सब इसी post की jurisdiction में हैं।
2008 की global financial crisis में जब दुनिया के banks डूब रहे थे, India के banking system ने remarkable stability दिखाई। उसके पीछे RBI की conservative policies थीं।
यह post typically एक senior economist या banker को मिलती है। Government appoint करती है लेकिन RBI अपनी independence maintain करता है — जो इस post को और powerful बनाता है।
Salary: ₹1,00,000 per month basic। लेकिन इस post की असली value salary नहीं — यह globally respected position है।
4. Chief of Defence Staff — तीनों सेनाओं का एकमात्र प्रमुख
2020 में India ने एक ऐतिहासिक post create की — Chief of Defence Staff (CDS)।
तीनों सेनाओं — Army, Navy, Air Force — के बीच coordination और joint operations के लिए। यह India की military की highest single-point leadership है।

जब कोई बड़ा crime होता है, जब किसी शहर में riots आते हैं, जब एक terrorist attack होता है — जिस officer का phone सबसे पहले बजता है और जिसके decisions सबसे ज़्यादा matter करते हैं, वो IPS officer होता है।
Indian Police Service UPSC के ज़रिए मिलती है, IAS के साथ ही। शुरुआत होती है ASP (Assistant Superintendent of Police) से, फिर SP, DIG, IG, ADGP, और DGP।
Director General of Police किसी state की पूरी police force का head होता है — लाखों officers, थाने, और resources उनके अंडर।
CBI, RAW, IB जैसी central agencies के chiefs भी IPS background से होते हैं — जो power और influence का और बड़ा dimension add करता है।
Salary: ₹2,25,000 per month senior level पर। Plus official residence, security, और अन्य benefits।
6. Surgeon — जिसके हाथों में literally जीवन होता है
एक open-heart surgery में surgeon के हाथ में patient का heart होता है। यह metaphorical नहीं है — literally।
Senior cardiothoracic surgeons, neurosurgeons, और transplant specialists — ये वो लोग हैं जिनके एक फैसले पर जीवन और मृत्यु का फर्क होता है।
Power यहाँ एक अलग dimension में है। Administrative power नहीं, biological power। इंसान के सबसे vulnerable moment में उसकी ज़िंदगी बचाने की power।
AIIMS, PGI Chandigarh, NIMHANS जैसे top government institutions के senior surgeons और department heads — यह medical system के top पर हैं।
Private sector में Apollo, Fortis, और Max जैसे hospitals के senior specialists ₹2-5 करोड़ सालाना तक कमाते हैं।
Salary: Government में ₹1-2 लाख per month। Private में ₹20 लाख-₹5 करोड़ सालाना।
7. Cabinet Secretary — Bureaucracy का सबसे ऊँचा पद
IAS का सबसे senior post — Cabinet Secretary।
यह वो person है जो Prime Minister के साथ सबसे directly काम करता है, सभी Government departments के बीच coordination करता है, और Cabinet meetings में secretarial functions निभाता है।
Cabinet Secretary to be — किसी IAS officer को 35-37 साल की impeccable service चाहिए। यह automatic promotion नहीं है — सिर्फ एक person at a time इस post पर होता है।

8. SEBI Chairman — Financial Markets का Guardian
जब SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) कोई order जारी करता है — Dalal Street रुक जाती है।
SEBI Chairman India के entire capital markets को regulate करता है — stock exchanges, mutual funds, brokers, और listed companies। Insider trading, market manipulation, और investor protection — सब SEBI की jurisdiction में हैं।

Power और responsibility का यह level उन्हीं को मिलता है जो बहुत लंबे समय तक consistent रहते हैं।
